This project involved the installation of parallel CPP watermains within a single large-
diameter tunnel. Construction methods included a combination of conventional tunneling, microtunneling, and open-cut excavation. The works were carried out along a busy arterial corridor in Brampton, requiring careful staging and extensive traffic management to maintain public access and safety.
- Large-diameter mining shaft exceeding 22 m
- Extensive traffic control measures implemented in a high-traffic urban environment
- Value Engineering (VE) proposals enhanced constructability by reducing tunnel slope and combining two temporary shafts into a single permanent valve chamber, resulting in significant time and cost savings
- Comprehensive geotechnical investigation confirmed ground conditions and optimized tunnel alignment confidence
